Discipline will be crucial for Birdland Kadavu as they chase a place in the FMF Suva Rugby Union Koroturaga Shield final.
They take on Eastern Saints Gold in today’s semi-final at the National Stadium, Suva.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, team manager Apimeleki Kuruvaki said the side used last week’s break to fine-tune its preparations and was ready for the challenge.
“The boys have trained well throughout the week after last weekend’s break. We’ve maintained our preparation and everyone is focused and committed heading into the semi-final,” Kuruvaki said.
He expects a tough contest against one of the competition’s strongest teams.
“We know what’s at stake.
“Eastern Saints Gold are a quality side, so we’ve concentrated on our fitness, discipline and game plan. We’ve also worked on the small areas that can make a big difference in a game like this.
“In matches of this magnitude, one mistake can change the outcome.
“We’ve reminded the players to stay composed, respect the officials, play within the rules and stick to our game plan regardless of the situation.”
He also called on supporters to rally behind the team.
“We’re asking all our fans, families and supporters to come out in numbers and cheer the boys on.”
