Draiba U13 targets quarterfinal berth

Draiba Primary School strengthened their push for the Sports World Suva Kaji Rugby Under-13 playoffs after thrashing newcomers Indira Gandhi Memorial (IGM) Primary School 31-5 in Round Four at St Marcelin grounds in Vatuwaqa, Suva, last Saturday.

Head coach Joji Moiavanua praised his players for executing the team’s game plan and disciplined structure.

“I was very pleased with today’s performance,” he said.

“We focused on playing in zones and they carried it out well. I’m very proud of them.”

Despite the convincing victory, Moiavanua said the team still had areas to improve on before the next round.

“We need to improve our defence and attack, and we also gave away too many high tackles. Those are areas we’ll continue working on before our next game,” he said.

Moiavanua said the team’s immediate goal was to secure a place in the quarterfinal before targeting the title.

“Our first objective is to reach the quarterfinal. Once we achieve that, we’ll focus on the semi-finals and then aim to win the Under-13 competition,” he said.
