Fijiana wins opener

The Fiji women’s team signalled their title intent at the McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s with a dominant opening win, while a gritty draw between New Zealand’s women’s development side and Say No To Drugs Police highlighted the early competition on day one.

The Fiji Womens team were off to a strong start at the McDonalds Fiji Coral 7s.

They thrashed Manly Mermaids, 42-0, in their opening match.

The side had veterans including Ana Maria Naimasi, Sesenieli Donu and the squad’s new inclusion Alfreda Fisher.

In other matches the New Zealand, women’s development team were held to a 17-all draw by Say No To Drugs Police women. The Police side included former Fijiana 7s reps Maria Rokotuisiga and Ivamere Nabura.
