Gospel Saints will face Nasinu Panthers in the Fiji Secondary Schools Under-15 Rugby League final at Govind Park, Ba this Saturday.

Gospel Saints Under-15 rugby league team needs to improve their defense as they take on Nasinu Panthers in the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League final at Govind Park, Ba this Saturday.

According to Saints team manager Donald Reece their U15 team needs to focus on their defense as the task ahead of them is not easy.

“We’ll need to improve on our defense. We feel that our defense was not to what we had expected during our semi-final against Lautoka Central College,” Reece said.

“We fell short in our attacks, also our ball carries and our communication on the ground,” he said.

Reece said they needed to go back and reset to improve their defense before the final.

“The preparation is going well. We had a good recovery from the semi-final last week and so we are just preparing for this week’s final,” he said.

“We won’t be taking Nasinu Panthers very lightly.

“We’re not expecting high expectations. We’ll take the game as it comes.

“The preparation is going well. We had a good recovery from the semi-final last week and so we are just preparing for this week’s final.

“We know that we met Nasinu in our semi-final during the Southern and Eastern zone competition where we had won but this final game against Nasinu Panthers is different from the southern and eastern competition. We’ll see on the ground what the result will be,” he said.

Reece said they knew Nasinu had a 10-10 record and that they had defeated RKS during the semi-final, who were number one in their zone and the final would be an exciting one for them.

He also encourages fans and supporters of Gospel Saints U15 to come out in numbers to support their team.

“I’m calling out all the supporters and fans to come out in numbers in Ba. It’ll be an exciting match for us in the final. For the first time we’re playing in a rugby league final in any grade.

“We’re hoping our supporters, ex-scholars, parents and students turn up in numbers in the final this Saturday,” he said.
