Mocenacagi, Momo join Mike Friday’s team
Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Akuila Momo have been named in the McDonald’s Mike Friday Select 7s squad for the Coral Coast Fiji 7s.

Fijian sevens forward Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Akuila Momo have been named in the McDonald’s Mike Friday Select 7s squad.
Mocenacagi who is known for his physical dominance and relentless work rate would complement the squad’s speed and attacking flair.
The McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s will be at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka from January 15-17, 2026.

Head coach Mike Friday welcomed Mocenacagi’s selection, highlighting the importance of experience and forward excellence in elite sevens rugby.
“Sevu is a true international performer and a big-time competitor. He understands what it takes to win on the world stage. His physicality, breakdown work, and ability to dominate key moments make him a massive addition to this group,” Friday told Coral Coast 7s Media.
An Olympic medallist with Fiji, Mocenacagi brings invaluable big-tournament experience into a squad designed to unite some of the best players from around the world under one banner. His inclusion reinforces the Select 7s philosophy of blending proven champions with elite talent to deliver high-performance rugby and entertainment.
Mocenacagi said: “Being part of the McDonald’s Mike Friday Select 7s is something special. Playing at home, alongside world-class players, and in front of our fans means a lot. I’m ready to bring physicality, energy, and pride to the jersey.”
Meanwhile Momo a former member of the national sevens squad was the 2024 Campese-Serevi medal recipient.
Head Coach Mike Friday welcomed Momo’s inclusion and highlighted the importance of his tournament pedigree.
“Akuila proved last year just how special he is by earning the Campese-Serevi medal as player of the tournament,” said Friday.
“He brings intensity, physical dominance, and a genuine competitive edge. Having him back on the Coral Coast and representing this Select team is hugely exciting for us and for the fans.”
