Ra High School Roosters rugby league captain, Penasio Waqa, believes the new Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League season would be a challenge as they’re about to defend the Under-19 title this year.

Speaking to SUNsports yester-day, Waqa who hails from Navu-na-i-Mudu in Tokamalo, Ra, said their preparations have been challenging as they go in as the defending champions.

“Our preparation for the competition is going well as we have to win every game. It is easier to go into challenge but to defend it's really tough,” he said.

Waqa highlighted the players encountered difficulties like sleepless nights and shortage of food supply.

However, he said, those challenges help keep them going.

“We usually stick to our school motto, which states ‘With God everything is possible’. Before we take the field in every game, we use that to assure our faith in God.”

Waqa has urged their supporters and ex-scholars to continue supporting them in prayers.

The Roosters beat Naitasiri Secondary School Warriors 24-20 in last year’s U19 final.
