The Ra Rugby Union (RRU) is set on reaching new heights with the aim to make rugby professional in their province and to book a spot in next year’s Skipper Cup competition.

This was the view of newly ap-pointed RRU president Josaia Niudamu during an interview with SUNsports yesterday.

Ra Rugby has secured the services of former Flying Fijian winger Sireli Bobo to be their head coach in the Vodafone Vanua Championship campaign this season.

He will be joined by former Flying Fijians number eight Sisa Koyamaibole, who is the assistant coach.

“It will be a big boost to have these two Flying Fijian legends in our campaign given their expertise,” Niudamu said.

“They have their plans for the team this season.

“We are coming back strong with these two great players in trying to make changes for our union.

“I want to extend an invite to the people of Ra to support the team as it marks the year of change for Ra rugby.”

Ra team manageress Asinate Rokovaki said they are in the pro-cess of recruiting players for the team with their off season camp to be held next Monday.

“The most important thing is to look after the team’s welfare and reviving grassroots rugby which is something our head coach em-phasises,” she said.

“We are just appealing to the Vanua o Ra for their support towards the teams this season.”
