The Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union (FSSRU) is still awaiting the review of the Terms of Participation (TOP) of their competition.

This was highlighted by FSSRU secretary Navitalai Waiwalu following their Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Yue Lai hotel last Saturday.

Waiwalu said there were no major issues raised by the zones.

“We had a few points,” he said.

“We have been asked of the review of competitions, we are having an interim committee doing that. So we have to follow up with the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU) on that.”

The interim committee, which was formed in May last year included two representatives each from FSSRU, Ministry of Education and FRU and an independent administrator appointed by the Rugby House.

It was to oversee and review the administration of school’s rugby and financial management in alignment with FRU’s governance standard and World Rugby’s best practices.

Waiwalu said the realignment was for the games on how it should be conducted.

“I’ve been asked by member schools, if that can be done quickly, so the competition can be rolled.

“All the schools are gearing up for the competitions and we think this year will be a tough competition compared to previous years especially in the Under-18 competition.”

When asked if there was a possibility of hosting the Vodafone Deans Trophy final at Ba’s Govind Park, Waiwalu said: “The executives are working on that. The booking is done for all the venues around Fiji especially Viti Levu, so the confirmation of which game will go to or which ground would be confirmed later.”

Waiwalu thanked the teachers who travelled from the North and the West to attend last Saturday’s AGM.

Meanwhile, Apete Luva was re-elected as treasurer.
