The Tailevu Rugby Football Union (TRFU) has launched its 2025–2030 strategic plan to rebuild rugby in the province.
President Joseph Rodan said the plan was designed to revive grassroots clubs and strengthen pathways for young players.
“Tailevu has long stood as one of Fiji’s iconic rugby heartlands,” Rodan said.

“This plan was a commitment to the people of Tailevu.”
The plan placed village rugby at its core.
He said clubs were set to receive support in governance, competitions, coaching, and administration; annual tournaments for men, women, and youth were outlined to ensure fairness and professionalism.
Rodan added the need to give every boy and girl a chance to progress from village fields to provincial and national levels. The plan also included opportunities for players to secure the Fijian Drua contracts, national teams and overseas deals.
A major feature of the plan was the creation of a central rugby facility. The venue was planned to host finals, coaching clinics, referee training, and community events. It was described as a place of pride and identity for Tailevu.
The marketing guru said financial sustainability was another key focus and the union aimed to reduce reliance on donations by introducing merchandise sales, event hosting, facility rentals, and corporate sponsorships.
He said a media and marketing team was tasked with building a stronger Tailevu rugby brand.
Rodan also highlighted governance and accountability. He said the union would operate with clear structures and open communication where club leaders, players, and supporters would be promised regular reporting and fair processes.
These plans are aligned with Fiji Rugby Union’s direction and followed World Rugby’s values of integrity, passion, solidarity, discipline, and respect.
Rodan said that the plan was more than a document. He said it was an investment in youth, clubs, and communities.
“Together, we will raise our flag high with pride, purpose and belief.”
