Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji has urged young people to stay away from drugs.

This is the message from the Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji National president Dhirendra Nand during Holi celebrations.

He described drug abuse as a growing concern affecting many families and emphasised the role of Holi in promoting self-discipline, purity of mind, and positive living.

Mr Nand said the Sabha continues to advocate for strong awareness against drug abuse, highlighting that the festival’s values guide youth toward education, spirituality, and constructive engagement.

“Holi teaches us to embrace goodness, forgiveness, and harmony. These principles are vital for young people to make responsible choices and avoid harmful habits,” Mr Nand said.

He also extended warm greetings to all Hindus and the wider Fijian community, noting that Holi celebrates the victory of good over evil and reminds communities of the story of Prahlad and Holika.

"The festival encourages the renewal of relationships, sharing of colours and sweets, and the fostering of love, equality, and unity among all people, regardless of social or cultural background," he said.

He thanked the Government and the Ministry of Education for granting a religious holiday to all Sanatan Dharm schools to observe Holi, calling it a recognition of Fiji’s commitment to religious freedom, multicultural respect, and the preservation of cultural and spiritual traditions.

He encouraged everyone to celebrate responsibly and safely, spreading kindness, compassion, and understanding throughout communities.

May this Holi bring peace, prosperity, good health, and happiness to every home in Fiji.
