Two venues set for semis

The Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Interim Committee has confirmed a two-venue set-up for the semi-finals of the Vodafone Super Deans and Weet-Bix Raluve competitions.

Selected school semi-finals will be played alongside the second Test between the Vodafone Fijiana XV and South Africa’s Springbok Women at Churchill Park, Lautoka, giving young players the opportunity to take the field on one of Fiji’s biggest rugby stages.

Interim Committee representative Biu Colati said the initiative had been designed with the long-term development of school rugby at its heart.

"Our priority has always been to provide the best possible experience for our student-athletes while continuing to strengthen the development pathway for school rugby," Colati said.

"This programme gives our young players the rare opportunity to perform on the same stage as our national team, exposing them to the atmosphere and standards of international rugby while celebrating the very best of school rugby. It is an experience that will inspire many of these players as they continue their rugby journey."

Four school semi-finals will feature at Churchill Park.

The day will begin with the Under-14 semi-final between Ratu Navula College and Ratu Kadavulevu School, followed by the U19 clash between Ratu Navula College and LMS and the Weet-Bix Raluve U16 semi-final between Sigatoka Methodist College and St Vincent College.

At 1pm, the Vodafone Fijiana XV will face the Springbok Women in the second Test of the series, followed by the Vodafone Super Deans U18 semi-final between Suva Grammar School and Ra High School.

Ra High has enjoyed a remarkable campaign, progressing from the Western Division’s fourth-ranked qualifier to become the North’s top qualifier before winning the Western Division title.

The remaining Vodafone Super Deans and Weet-Bix Raluve semi-finals will be played at HFC Bank Stadium, Buckhurst

Ground 1 and Bidesi Ground. The confirmed draw, including venues and kick-off times, will be released soon.
