The agreement for the construction, operation, and maintenance of a new 100-bed Super Specialty Hospital in Nasinu is almost finalised, the Government has confirmed.

In a statement, it said the project, supported by the Government of India, has already secured land and will move into construction as soon as design and procurement processes are completed.

“This modern hospital will bring advanced healthcare services closer to our people, improve specialised medical care, and benefit all Fijians, no matter where you live,” the statement said.

The Government said the facility will be equipped with advanced technology to improve access to specialised treatments that are currently limited in Fiji.

In his June budget address, Minister for Finance Biman Prasad said the construction will be supported through a grant from India and is expected to commence before the end of the year.

“Land acquisition is now complete, and a Memorandum of Agreement is to be signed soon on the construction, operation and maintenance of the hospital,” Mr Prasad said.

The hospital will be the first of its kind in Nasinu, aimed at boosting healthcare capacity and reducing the need for overseas referrals for complex treatments.
