Assistant Minister for Health and Medical Services, Penioni Ravunawa, said he found it valuable to meet medical professionals serving at various facilities in Cakaudrove this week.

During his visits, Mr Ravunawa listened to staff about the challenges they face, including those working at rural nursing stations.

He said these discussions helped him understand the support needed to strengthen service delivery for surrounding communities.

“This one-week visitation is an important opportunity to hear firsthand the challenges around service delivery, infrastructure needs, and day-to-day operations,” he said.

He also met medical staff at Savusavu Sub-divisional Hospital, where he discussed key issues affecting service delivery, including infrastructure, human resources, accommodation, fleet support, medical supplies, and future development plans.

Mr Ravunawa commended the medical teams for delivering critical outreach services to remote communities in the Northern Division.

He is expected to continue his tour of health facilities with a visit to Labasa Hospital on Monday.
