Always Dream Big, Toppers Recipient Tells
‘I am glad to be a Toppers recipient and this would lessen the burden for my parents’

Shiva Prakash had to sacrifice his sleep and leisure time to become a Toppers Scholarship recipient this year.
Last year, the 19-year-old scored 383 out of 400 in his Year 13 External Examination.
The former Baulevu High School student is now pursuing his Bachelor’s in Science majoring in computer science and information system.

“I am the eldest in my family and also the oldest in my extended family so I have a lot of responsibilities on my shoulder,” Shiva said.
“I needed to be an example and set a benchmark which will be followed by my younger sibling and cousins.
“I had to sacrifice a lot to be where I am today and I have no regrets.”
Shiva said computer study was a field he always wanted to get into.
“My target was to score 380 and I was able to get more. My parents were happy when they saw my marks but I think they knew I was going to score a good mark,” he said.
“I am glad to be a Toppers recipient and this would lessen the burden for my parents.
“I want to thank the Government for introducing such scholarship because it gives me a chance to become what I have always wanted to be
“I will work hard so that they never regret giving me the scholarship.”
Shiva’s advice to youngsters is to always dream big.
“Give it your all so that at the end of the day you don’t have any regrets.”
