AnneMary Uses Savings To Buy Feminine Kits For Cyclone Harold Affected Islands

After seeing the disaster caused by Tropical Cyclone Harold, AnneMary Raduva used part of her savings and started buying and distributing feminine kits for those affected.
The young climate activist said menstrual hygiene was an urgent and silent need that can be easily forgotten during natural disasters.
With the help of those who also supported their selfless act, the 16-year-old and her younger siblings set aside their savings to buy the items.

The dignitary kits are packed in reusable ziplock bags and consists of 10 to 12 sanitary pads, a toothpaste, toothbrush and bathing soap.
AnneMary said: “These basic dignitary kits can help a woman or an adolescent girl survive her monthly menstruation and with a reusable and waterproof ziplock bag, we want them to feel comfortable when they’re using it.
“We are targeting more than 1000 basic kits for TC Harold affected areas in the next couple of weeks.
“Between my sister and I, we used part of our savings to buy these essential items at the Max Val-U Supermarket in Flagstaff since the price of items were much more affordable and we needed to buy in bulk.”
The kits have been sent to Kadavu and they are also targeting Vatulele and Southern Lau and more affected areas.
