Asima Naaz Scores Top Marks In Year 13 Exam

Asima Naaz topped her Year 13 examinations at Kamil Muslim College last year.

The former head girl scored a total of 380 out of 400.

Asima, 18, scored 98 in Maths, 91 in English, 98 in Accounting and 93 in Computer studies.

She was also awarded the dux the award last year scoring a total of 348 in the 2019 Fiji Year 12 Certificate Examination.

“What motivated me to score these Marks were my parents who made many sacrifices for me and always believed in me that one day I would make them proud. This being the reason, motivated me to do my best and score such a mark,” she said.

She said working towards her current achievement came with its own set of challenges.

“I used to sacrifice my sleep to study and used to wake up at two in the morning sometimes for the purpose of studying and I also cut down my leisure time on social media so that it did not affect my studies,” she said.

She said she now plans to pursue a Bachelor in Commerce, majoring in Accounting at the University of the South Pacific. She aims to become an auditor.

“The advice that I would like to give the youths is that being ardent in whatever you do would surely ensure your success so believe in yourself and work hard then one day you would surely find yourself at the place that you dreamed of,” she said

Her mother, Hafiza Bibi, said her daughter’s hard-earned achievement would serve as an example for her two younger siblings.

“I am really proud of my daughter’s achievement as she stood up to my expectations and made our family proud and I wish all the best for her future,” she said.
