Best Friends Lead St Anne’s School In Suva

Best friends, Tatyana Tiva Mow and Emmalyne Whippy are looking forward to working as a team to ensure students follow the school’s rules and direction.

The duo were yesterday badged head girl (Tatyana) and deputy head girl (Emmalyne) of St Anne’s Primary School in Suva.

They have been friends since Year Three.

Tatyana, 13, who is the youngest of three siblings’ hails from Naqia Village in Wainibuka, Tailvevu with maternal links to Dravuni Village in Tailevu.

“I am honoured to be the head girl of the school especially to be the first head girl in the family,” Tatyana said.

“This is a girl’s school so as the head girl I will make sure that no matter what someone is going through whether big or small they should never be hesitant to talk to me. I am here as their head girl and sister.

“I want to thank my parents for their continuous support; I am who I am today because of how they moulded me and I also want to thank the teachers for trusting me with this responsibility.”

Emmalyne said she believed in Tatyana’s leadership.

She hails from Kasavu Village in Savusavu with maternal links to Kiuva Village in Tailevu.

The 13-year-old is the granddaughter of Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

“I have been friends with Tatyana since Year Three and I know her well. She will perform her new responsibilities to the best of her ability,” Emmalyne said.

“We will help each other because leadership is about working as a team towards a common goal.”

47 prefects were inducted yesterday. 396 students attend St Anne’s Primary School.
