Bilo Bar legacy lives on at Coral Coast reunion

Club’s week-long celebration blends tourism with purpose

The story of the Bilo Bar Club, is a reminder of how friendship, love and the tourism industry can transform and improve Fijian livelihoods.

Now in its fourth decade, the annual Bilo Bar reunion brings together members and friends from around the world to celebrate shared memories and experiences. Not only that it will raise funds for community development, it also continues the club’s proud tradition of giving back to Fiji’s Coral Coast.

The spirit of friendship, giving, and communities spirit returned for the 2025 Bilo Bar Club Reunion at Shangri-La Yanuca Island, Fiji, from November 2-9. Initiatives Since its establishment in 1981, the Bilo Bar Club has raised more than $1.5 million for education, health, and community initiatives.

Funds have supported projects such as village kindergartens, the Bilo Bar Wing at Sigatoka District Hospital, Cuvu Community Learning Centre, and youth empowerment through sponsorship of the Aflame Brothers Rugby 7s teams that competes in the McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

Three recent projects include the three automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), Jubaniwai Kindergarten septic tank repair and Cuvu Community learning centre.

Bilo Bar legacy Imperial Bilo Andrew Neaves said the 2025 reunion continued the legacy of impact, bringing together members old and new to celebrate friendship, fun, and a shared commitment to making a difference.

“This year’s Bilo Bar Club fundraiser reunion celebrated the enduring spirit of friendship and community giving that defines our members,” said Mr Neaves.

“We aimed to collect close to $50,000 through our raffles, auctions, and Melbourne Cup Day events to continue supporting education, village development, and local sport, ensuring our impact across the Coral Coast continues to grow,” he said.

The week-long celebration featured a series of social gatherings, charity auctions, and fundraising activities, including the Melbourne Cup Day, where guests enjoyed the resort’s own version of the race, complete with a mini horse race along the beachfront featuring riders from nearby villages.

“I’m deeply touched by the unwavering support of our returning Bilo Bar Club family members. Their generosity and loyalty have not only strengthened our connection with them but have also uplifted the communities along the Coral Coast,” said general manager Francis Lee.

“The relationship between ShangriLa and The Bilo Bar Club has grown stronger every year. It’s a partnership built on care, gratitude, and a shared purpose that continues to flourish,” he said.
