Mohammed Yusuf, a Fijian now living in the United States, is calling on others to help Fiji during this COVID-19 crisis.

Originally from Taveuni, Mr Yusuf arranged food packs for 175 families, each with a value of $70.

“I found it very easy to contact my friends back at home to identify those in desperate need of food,” Mr Yusuf said.

“Then I sent money and they prepared and delivered food packs.”

He said distribution was done in Nadi, Cuvu, Sigatoka, Nasinu, Labasa and Taveuni.

“This is a crucial time for our nation and we need to step up to assist so that we can recover.

“Since I moved to California in 1997 I have been supporting my country in many ways.

“With the support of my family, I will continue to organise help for Fijians.”

Mr Yusuf is the creator of ‘Fijian Society and its Culture’ on Facebook which has a following of more than 160,000.
