A livestock farmer, who took one of his six grandchildren to financially support, sold two goats to buy his grandson school items.

Mohammed Aihub, 62, earned $400 from each sale on Monday.

Yesterday he was seen with the six-year-old Mohammed Shabil Sairusi in Nadi Town.

Mr Aihub said he took on the initiative because his grandchildren’s parents were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I have six grandchildren whose parents have been affected by this pandemic. I decided to take care of Mohammed who is the youngest of them all,” he said.

Shabil will be in Year 1 at Nadi Muslim Primary.

“My grandson is excited and looking forward to going to primary school.,” Mr Aihub said.

“Yesterday I sold some of my goats because I wanted to buy my grandson’s school stationery and his uniforms.”

“It is good to buy now because it is still cheaper and we could afford it. I don’t know next year the price might go up.”
