I did it! says Henali Patel.

The 19-year-old scored 387 out of 400 in the Fiji Year 13 Certificate Examination, the highest for Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) High School.

She scored 94 in English plus best three subjects: Maths 99, Physics 99 and Chemistry 95.

Henali was proud and honoured that out of the many students at MGM High School, she was the one to get the highest mark.

“I had put in so much hard work and dedication to my studies and for this exam, I aimed for such marks and I am grateful that I was able to achieve it,” she said.

She is hoping to join the Fiji National University to pursue Medical Lab Science and later do her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).

“If it is God’s will then I have a dream to travel overseas for further studies.”

She said her inspiration was her family, teachers, friends, and her competitive classmates.

Her father, Jitesh Patel, said it was a proud moment for his family.

“I am humbled and blessed to have a daughter like her. She worked hard and was rewarded for it,” he said.

He said Henali was always obedient and hardworking.

“We always teach our children to work hard in order to get rewarded.”
