Kumar Pursues His Dreams Through Toppers Scholarship
Brought up by a single mother, the 19-year-old is now a first-year student at the University of the South Pacific, pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance.

The National Toppers Scholarship has enabled Kaveet Kavitesh Kumar to pursue his dream as a business analyst in future.
Brought up by a single mother, the 19-year-old is now a first-year student at the University of the South Pacific, pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance.
He is a former head boy and dux of Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College (SSKMC) in Nadi. Last year he was recognised as a district topper for the Fiji Year 13 Examination scoring 384 out of 400.

Mr Kumar said the scholarship has broadened his horizon.
“I initially plan to pursue actuarial science but because of COVID-19, I refined my career plan to become a business analyst in the future,” he said.
“I am very grateful to the Government for enabling me to pursue a career path which I always dream of.
“I have been brought up by a single mother and there were challenges I faced along the way. Those were not my excuse for what I wanted to achieve in life.
“The strongest factor for success is self esteem. I must believe that I can do it. That will be my encouragement to my peers in following their dreams.”
