Time has not done any healing on Lautoka parents Anjina Devi and Babu Sharma.

January 19, 2021 marks the first year since their only son the late Hasneel Sharma was allegedly murdered in Topline, Lautoka.

For Ms Devi and Mr Sharma, waking up each morning thinking about how their son’s life was taken away from them is unbearable.

This Christmas Day is the first one without Hasneel.

An emotional Ms Devi, who sits on her bed at the front porch of their Velovelo home every day, still wonders why Hasneel had to go through such tragedy.

“When I make a roti parcel, I always cry because I use to make his every morning to take to work,” Ms Devi said.

“Hasneel was my light, he was my only son.”

Ms Devi said the family would be visiting his grave site at Balawa Cemetery in Lautoka on Christmas Day.

His father, Mr Sharma said the only thing the family could do now was attend church and continue to pray for others.

“I miss him so much,” he said.

“Every time I drive pass the area where the incident happened, as a father, I feel so sorry for my son thinking what he had gone through.”

Hasneel, who was the eldest of two would have turned 23-years-old on December 16.
