Love For Trucks Makes Kumar More Than A Driver

Nitesh Kumar’s fascination for trucks began at an early age and it is not surprising that he is now a truck and trailer driver.
Although he did not study up to tertiary level it did not stop him from achieving his dream.
Driving trucks is not only his source of income, he is also now an auto electrician and a charity worker with his car club.

“My interest for trucks started in primary school when I used to go with my father every weekend on his work trips,” Mr Kumar said.
“I always accompanied him to spend more time with him.
“And this is how my love to travel began, the fresh air, the sound of the heavy vehicle engine and the little adventures ignited my interest in trucks.
“Although I own a Toyota Hybrid 1.8, the fascination of driving heavy vehicles is rewarding in many ways.
“I now drive trucks and trailers for a living, earning money from something I love best.
“I have been driving for William & Goslings Limited the past six years and have been enjoying every bit of it.
“As part of my work description I make sure that I meet my deadlines in delivering and picking up items; at the same time driving safely when going from one location to another.”
During his time off he is does auto electrical work on vehicles.
“Being the eldest of three siblings is not easy because this means my younger siblings look up to me for encouragement and motivation,” he said.
“I do auto electrical work because my vehicle is a hybrid and I need to have this knowledge and experience.”
The 27-year-old bachelor is also a member of the Xplizit Car Club; he joined the club in 2018.
“I found out about Xplizit through a friend and am fortunate to be accepted as a member,” he said.
“Being part of the car club has been an eye opener for me because we also do charity work apart from the car shows.
“We fundraise to help families who are less fortunate, especially, fellow Fijians who need help.
“For us at Xplizit we always say: “Team work is the key to success because when we work together, we can do great things for our country.”

His advice to drivers: “Always obey the road rules because every life matters and always stay within the speed limits all the time.”
