It is more than 34 years now since his father was murdered but the fight for the former American military officer’s property has still not ended.
Bob Amos owned the Kings Hotel in Nabua, he had a yacht, some houses and other properties but his family has not received anything after his death in 1985.
His son, Vernon Amos said he has been running around for years to fight for what belonged to his father but to no avail so far.

Vernon was about 12 years old and his brother was about nine years old when their father was murdered at Kings Hotel between June 3 and 5, 1985.
They did not have any knowledge at that time about the legal side of things as far as their father’s property was concerned.
But as they grew older, they began to look deeper into the case and find out what had happened to whatever their father owned when he died.
Vernon has been the one running around from one office to another in Fiji whenever he is in the country from the United States of America.
The court battles for the property
“There have been three cases so far to get my father’s property back. It is an estate case that has dragged on and on and on,” he said.
“After turning 21 years, my brother and I got sick and tired of the never-ending excuses from a certain office that was looking after our father’s property.
“We also filed a complaint with the then Ombudsman. There were attempts from certain corners, later on, to have our father’s Will thrown out.”
Mr Amos said there were no other family members fighting against him and his brother for their father’s property.
He said a law firm was also in contact with their half-brothers (children from his father’s first marriage) and Colonel K Lambert Kirk, who was named by his father as the executor of the Will.
Bob Amos. Bob Amos’ yacht
It has been revealed that the ring that was issued to Bob Amos by the U.S military for his service was recovered by Police during the investigations.
One of the six people who were sentenced to life imprisonment for the hotelier’s murder had hidden the ring at his brother’s house outside Suva City.
The ring is believed to have been tendered as an exhibit during the murder trial which saw people gathering at the court premises in numbers every day.
Also, the Fiji Sun has been informed by a reader that he has seen someone wearing a similar kind of ring but that person is not a former U.S military officer.
Only time will tell where is the ring, which is something that Vernon Amos is still searching for as it has a lot of memories of his father’s service to the U.S military and country of birth.
