Prasad Pursues Medical Career, Specialist In Oncology
After completing her six years as a medical student, she intends to be a specialist in Oncology (cancer specialist).

Eighteen-year-old Anjali Prasad has set her sight for a medicine career pathway at the University of Fiji.
The former Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College head girl is undertaking foundation programme for 2020 before fitting into the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme at the Umanand Prasad School of Medicine & Health Sciences in 2021.
“I will be doing foundation for medicine for MBBS this year which is a one-year course after which I will be doing the full medicine course for six years,” Ms Prasad said.

“As a foundation student we do not get any assistance, we have to study as private students. However, after my foundation period I will be applying for Government assistance in the form of Tertiary Education Loan Scheme (TELS).
Ms Prasad started her primary education at Nadi Primary then SSKMC Nadi where she did Year 13. She passed with 315 out of 400. 15 marks shy from 330 to qualify direct to the MBSS programme.
“Being a medical student will not be an easy task for me as I will have to study very hard to get good marks as well as helping my parents in their business,” Ms Prasad added.
After completing her six years as a medical student, she intends to be a specialist in Oncology (cancer specialist).
“Fiji does not have much specialised courses so if possible, in coming years hopefully local universities would have specialised programmes,” she said.
Apart from studying, she works part-time at her parents’ business where she is on the pay roll.
She also models. Currently she is doing Summer Class and is expected to sit the exams tomorrow.
She travels daily from Nadi to the Saweni Campus in Lautoka. She lives with her parents and older sister.
