Qereqeretabua Dedicates Medal To His Wife

Radike Qereqeretabua, 82, says his wife Eta Qereqeretabua, has been the powerhouse of his success in the tourism industry over the past decades.

Fiji 50th Anniversary commemorative medal recipient, Radike Qereqeretabua, 82, says his wife Eta Qereqeretabua, has been the powerhouse of his success in the tourism industry over the past decades.

A hotelier for more than 40 years, he said his wife has been his senior support and he dedicated his medal to her.

Mr Qereqeretabua received his medal from the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote at the State House yesterday.

He said memories of receiving the 25th year of Independence medal from Ratu Kamisese Mara ,was still fresh in his mind.

“His words to me that day still echo to me today, he said congratulations Radike for your contributions to the tourism industry, firstly, and for your contributions to Fiji,” Mr Qereqeretabua said.

“25 years later I am humbled to be awarded with the 50th Anniversary medal from the current president.”

Mr Qereqeretabua has been chairman of the National Trust of Fiji for more than 10 years.

He was also a member of a number of boards, twice for Fijian Holdings.

MANOA RASIGATALE

Medal recipient and locally renowned television show producer, Manoa Rasigatale, 73, said he was grateful to be awarded.

“I am grateful that even though we are growing old we are still recognised for our tireless efforts in the country,” he said.

He thanked his wife Agnes Rasigatale, children and grandchildren for their unwavering support.
