Meet Darren Whiteside, a pornography addiction coach.

He has counselled men in Fiji, Egypt, Lebanon and America on the psychological effects of porn.

According to Mr Whiteside, “men do not have something called emotional intelligence”.

Mr Whiteside owns and runs the Fiji Women’s Self Defence Programme, which was established as a response to the escalating cases of violence against women.

He was speaking to participants at a two-day Catholic Women’s League National Leadership Training that ended on Friday.

He said men’s aggressive nature was enhanced by porn and normalised by women’s subservient nature.

Mr Whiteside was accompanied by Opposition MP Lynda Tabuya, who led a panel discussion on Eliminating violence against women-impact of pornography on women, young people and children.

Fijians struggling with overcoming the urge to watch porn are advised to contact Mr Whiteside via Ms Tabuya for counselling services.
