Two Year Eight students of Valebasoga Public School in Labasa are confident they will uphold the responsibilities of being the school’s Head Boy and Head Girl.

Shuaib Khan was elected the Head Boy and Dipshika Dipeshni as the Head Girl during the school’s prefect induction yesterday.

Both students were deputies last year and are 13 years of age.

Shuaib, an only child in the family, said he always wished to be the Head Boy of the school.

“My father works as a lorry driver while my mother is an accountant at Northern Property Valuation,” he said.

“They would definitely be proud of my achievement.”

He said his ambition was to become a pilot.

“I want to create history by becoming the first pilot in Valebasoga,” Shuaib said.

“Now that I am the Head Boy of the school, I will begin to learn what

it means to take responsibility and work together as a team.”

Dipshika said it was a proud moment for her to be elected as the Head Girl.

“My father works as a security officer at RB Patel Supermarket while my mother does domestic duties,” Dipshika said.

“Being the Head Girl would not only mean for me to be disciplined at school but act as a good leader in public also.”

The school has a roll of about 200 students from Kindergarten to Year Eight and inducted 28 prefects, yesterday.
