Veteran Peters Excited With Favourite Horse Rider

As punters across the country flock to local Grant Betting outlet, one such punter is excited for the Melbourne Cup.
A regular punter Chris Peters betted for German horse rider Ashrun, which has booked a final spot in the Melbourne Cup field.
Mr Peters’ predications became a reality on Saturday afternoon.

“In race four whoever wins this race will automatically qualify to run in Melbourne Cup today,” Mr Peters said.
“The horse that I am quite happy to put some money on number 18 Ashrun, because the horse is trained by a German trainer, and it also won the 2015 Melbourne Cup.
“I had put a small bet on that horse, and it had been qualified for the Melbourne Cup.
“There is a possibily that this horse might repeat the win it did back in 2014,” he said.
Ashrun was ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, a three-time Melbourne Cup winning jockey.
Ashrun who is trained by German trainer Andreas Wohler, the same trainer that trained Protectionist who won the Melbourne Cup in 2014.
Mr Peters has been horse betting since 2000 said there had been times of losing and wining.
His biggest win was through the Quaddie back betting by selecting the last four winners of the last four races of the given day.
“As a punter we look for horses that are trained by top trainers, because the top trainer usually gets the best horses.
“Sometimes we look at the breed of the horse.
“I have lost some money along the way, but I have also won.”
His biggest win was $5,000.
The 55-year-old lives in Lami and is a regular punter at Grants Betting Limited.
Ashrun had won the Group Three Lexus Hotham Stakes (2500m) on Saturday at Flemmington, Melbourne to book the final spot in the 2020 Melbourne Cup field.Only one of the 11 Hotham runners were not among the Cup entries - Brimham Rocks - which made it a crucial affair for those trying to secure an eleventh-hour berth in today’s $8 million race.
