A periodic review of archaic legislations governing the mining sector should be wrapped up by 2024, the Mineral Resources Department said yesterday.
The Mining Act of 1965 will be modernised to reflect the change in times, Director Raymond Mohammed, said.
“What we hope is to capture global mining initiatives, contextualised to Fiji’s industry, which will include feedback and expectations of all relevant stakeholders,” he said.
