Fiji Television Limited has announced an after tax profit of $342,330 for the first quarter of this year, ending on March 31.

In its Profit/Loss Statement for the quarter posted on the South Pacific Stock Exchange where it is listed, the television company noted the result was an improvement of 154 per cent compared to the same period last year, where it then posted a loss of over $600,000.

Total operating revenue jumped 45 per cent to $5.12m compared to $3.48m in the same quarter last year, while earnings per share improved to 0.03 cents per share compared to a -0.06 cents per share for the same period last year.

Fiji TV has held a steady pace in financial recovery since last year, where it announced a 331 per cent recovery in operating profit for the second half of 2022.

Fiji TV board chair Deepak Rathod said: “As the economy recovers from the opening of our borders, from December last year, the company has seen an improvement, although still somewhat subdued, in the advertising and sponsorship spend by businesses. We expect to see further improvements in the next six months.”
