The Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport officially launched the Trade Enhancement Programme yesterday, in its stride to inspire young entrepreneurs.

Line minister, Faiyaz Koya, said the programme aimed to promote entrepreneurs with special trade.

New or existing micro enterprises with an annual turnover of less than $50,000 - who were skills based, or operated in a trade field, are the target of the programme, Mr Koya said.

“The ministry was allocated $500,000 for the implementation of this programme, under which applicants qualify for a maximum of $500 assistance, to help them grow their business,” he said.

“A person that needs to start up a small business will find the amount of $500 sufficient to get the basics to at least begin earning an income."

“We are going digital for this programme, because we have absolute confidence in our micro entrepreneurs who have become and are very, tech savy."

Application Forms

Mr Koya said application forms would only be accepted online through our portal and can be found at www.msme.mcttt.gov.fj/grant.

By having a technological platform, all business had an equal footing that allowed  businesses in rural areas to lodge their application online, he said.

Applicants did not have to travel far for long hours or spend on travel expenses to register their business.

The Trade Enhancement Programme is open from April 13, and will close on May 4, 2022.
