8 Companies Eye Mount Kasi Gold Mine
The former Mount Kasi Gold mine is located four kilometres northeast of Dawara Village, 40 kilometres west of Savusavu.

Out of the 13 companies that expressed their interest in mineral exploration at Mount Kasi, eight submitted their application to the Department of Mineral Resources.
This was confirmed by the acting director of mines, Raymond Mohammed.
He said the eight companies submitted their expression of interest by the closing date on August 14, 2020.

“The Department has convened a Technical Assessment Committee, approved by the Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources,” he said.
“This committee is tasked with assessing and identifying the most meritorious bid for the Mount Kasi prospect.”
He confirmed there would not be any extension to the advertisement of the tender now.

The former Mount Kasi Gold mine is located four kilometres northeast of Dawara Village, 40 kilometres west of Savusavu.
The mine operated from 1932-1946 and 1997-1998.
