A car wash, a restaurant, and a hair salon opened at the weekend.

Nadi businessman, Abdul Nazeem opened Rose Car Wash, Restaurant Lemon Tea, and Home Duty Hair Salon, at the weekend in Denarau, Nadi.

It is the result of taking good advantage of Government funding, acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said, while officiating at the launch of the three businesses.

Previous Records

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said previous Governments had not provided assistance to build businesses in the same strength as the serving Government.

He said Mr Nazeem had contributed his own funds to develop his business, aided further by the Government.

“This is how you make good use of the funding provided by the Government,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

“This is not only restricted to this enterprise, but also hundreds of our enterprises in Fiji where people were able to earn a living and be able to sustain their livelihoods.”

Mr Nazeem invested $25,000 in his business.

“The Government provided me with $14,000,” he said.

“They have helped me fulfill my dreams."

“While you have your car wash, you are not wasting your time."

“You can have your hair cut, or you can have a cup of lemon tea, or pineapple juice."

The location of the businesses, at Denarau backroad, was designed to target the tourism sector, Mr Nazeem said.

“I believe this a good location because this is a new route for tourists and locals who are going towards the resorts and the marina in Denarau,” he said.
