Value City (SP) Pte Ltd Managing Director Vera Chute said as far as Value City is concerned the report by Independent Australia is baseless. She said:

-Our clothing is bought from a reputable commercial Company in Melbourne.

Asked if Value City Fiji had a strong affiliation with Irish-born businessman George Doonan, she said: “Mr Doonan started the business with Mr & Mrs Patrick Chute in the early 1990’s.
“Value City cannot comment on any allegations made against Mr Doonan.
“Value City is a reputable and legitimate business. Over the years we have supported women in the informal business sectors to grow, assisted many charities, schools and more.”
