Welcome to the other side of Savura, where more than 100 people are stranded with no tap water supply or proper road access.
The debilitating state of affairs is not for the faint of heart as some residents have sought alternative lodgings outside of Savura, until basic human needs - like tapped water and road access - are restored in these parts.
This morning (Good Friday), workers tell us - like they’ve done every day for the past week - we could expect restoration of water supply by today.

In the meantime, survivors on the stranded side of the broken road at Savura, must resort to a stream downhill to bathe, cart water in receptacles, and some even wash clothes.
To get there, residents must track muddy and overgrown grassy terrain.
Savura is a quiet corner at the border of Colo-i-Suva forest, and is a 20-minute drive to the capital city.
It is home to the city’s water treatment plant and catchment areas.
