Avalon from Fiji will be featured tomorrow at the Made in the Commonwealth Reception in London.
An opportunity provided by the Commonwealth Fashion Council, through the Fashion Council of Fiji.
Libby Pickering the designer of Avalon, said the piece she made was named after her daughter for whom the garment was designed.

“All materials used for this piece are local and natural supporting and encouraging a more sustainable fashion platform,” said Ms Pickering.
The main material used is the plain uncoloured traditional Fijian Masi, Fijian mat and Fiji’s own exquisite pearls from Vanua Levu - all representing our culture.
The dress was designed with a very elegant vintage vogue skeleton design incorporating the use of all natural local materials producing a contemporary piece - machine and hand finished.
“The creation of “Avalon” was included in the sketching of the dress for my submission to ‘Made in the Commonwealth reception’ competition.

Fashion Council of Fiji chairman Faraz Ali said: “She always had this passion for creating new things and I am so glad she has the chosen fashion as her platform.
“We are all very happy at the council that she will be representing us as a new designer and at the sametime somebody who is fulfilling their dream at this stage of their life.”
Ms Pickering will be exclusively debuting her collection at the Fijian Fashion Festival 2018.
