A German couple have vowed to return to Fiji following the success of their initial trip.

Anke and her husband Frank Walther, were among guests of the Silver Explorer, a cruise liner that berthed at the Queens Wharf on October 10.

“We really want to see the people and the culture,” Mr Walther said.

“I want to see the different types of rum here in Fiji.”

Originally from Berlin, the couple planned the long-awaited trip in 2021.

“We have four sons, all adults now, and working, so they have their own lives.

“We just wanted to take this trip by ourselves,” Ms Walther said.

Couple Vow To Return To Fiji

In Lautoka City, where they were approached by tour operators, the couple declined, preferring to walk and enjoy the scenery.

“We wanted to walk because there’s more to see,” Ms Walther said.

“We want to see the Independence Day celebration.”

The cruise liner visited a number of outer islands in the group.

“We will come back next year,” Mr Walther said.
