Businesses in West Affected by Flooding

Business in various towns in the westerns division including Ba, and Rakiraki were affected due to the weather.

Both towns had to close business­es as water levels rose and entered the shops.

Ba Town Council Special admin­istrator chair Moshin Khan said closing Ba town during flooding was meant to protect businesses.

Mr Khan and his team have been working with the Ba Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Fiji National Disaster Risk Manage­ment Office (NDMO) Fiji Police, and National Fire Authority (NFA).

He said the Ba Main Street was open on Friday, but started to close around 1pm to 2 pm.

At the Market arcade water went in at 7am.

Rakiraki/Tavua Town Council health inspector Serevi Nabura confirmed that MaxVal-U super­market in Tavua was closed for the day.

"Tavua town was open for busi­ness but was affected of flooding near Shop N Shop supermarket due to spill from the river," he said.

"Rakiraki town was closed due to water level rising from the creek into the town."

Nadi and Nadroga/Navosa

Nadi Town Council chief execu­tive officer Muni Reddy said that it was business as usual as various businesses started with clean up.

Nadroga Navosa Chamber of Commerce and Industry chair­man Suresh Naidu said, business was as usual in rugby town.
