A local tour operator says there is a need for more diverse experience to meet the demand of the cruise liners arriving in the country.

Vou Dance Group founder Sachiko Soro made the comment at the Tourism Fiji Cruise Symposium at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau, on Saturday.

The company partners with local tour operators to offer Vou Hub cultural shows.

“We just hope we can offer more diverse experiences,” she said.

“Cruise ship operators say there are different demographics for different cruise ships.

She said time such as now was good for business.

Ports Authority of New South Wales cruise development manager, Natalie Goodward, said strengthening targeted infrastructure and essential services in remote maritime islands could unlock tourism developments in Fiji.

Super Yacht Australia chief executive officer, David Good, said the Blue Lane initiative set up by Fiji did catapult the cruising maritime industry.

“Fiji did a good job in doing that as we are able to maintain a lot of super-yachts in the region rather than losing them,” he said.
