Suva was a hype of activities last week as three cruise liners called into Kings Wharf over three consecutive days from February 5 to 7.

Bermuda cruise liner Golden Princess called into the Suva Port on Tuesday February 5 carrying in a total of 2670 tourists and 1064 crew members.

The cruise ship had initially called into Port Denarau on February 4 prior to berthing into the Suva King’s wharf.

Vessel agents Kenua Fiji Manager Leone Naivalu confirmed that the vessel was the third cruise liner under Kenua Fiji’s watch to have called into the country this year.

MS EUROPA

MS Europa was the second cruise liner to have berthed into the Suva Port last week.

Vessel agent Williams and Gosling Operations Supervisor Christopher Vafo’ou said MS Europa carried in a total of 338 tourists with 286 crew members from over 18 countries.

“The vessel is currently on a round the world cruise and is here in Fiji for a period of three days with tourists and crew members from over 18 countries,” Mr Vafo’ou said.

The Hapag-Lloyd cruise vessel registered in Malta, berthed into Somosomo Port on Tuesday February 5, called into the Suva Port on February 6 before calling into its final Fiji Port in Leleuvia on Thursday February 7.

According to Vafo’ou, the cruise ship offers an unrivalled passenger to crew ratio, which guarantees first class service.

MS Europa is also one of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises cruise ships to have a five-star rating a number of consecutive years.

EUROPA 2

MS Europa 2 called into the Suva’s Kings Wharf February 7 last week.

MS Europa 2 is also operated by Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, a German-based cruise line.

Also registered under William and Gosling’s watch in Fiji, it carried in 476 tourists and 374 crew members from over 17 countries.

Mr Vafo’ou also confirmed that the vessel berthed into three ports in the country before it departed our waters on February 9.

“Europa 2 first called into the port of Suva on Thursday February 7, Lautoka on February 8 and its last port in Fiji was Dravuni on February 9,” Mr Vafo’ou said.

“The vessel had called into Fiji’s Lautoka port in 2017 but this is its maiden voyage to the Suva Port.

“Europa 2 is a five star plus cruise ship and the leading cruise ship in the world.”

She entered service in May 2013, and is the highest rated cruise ship in the world according to the Berlitz Guide to Cruising & Cruise Ships, replacing her fleet mate, MS Europa, which had held that distinction for more than a decade.

Cruise liner agents Williams and Gosling’s confirmed that MS Europa 2 spent a day at the Suva King’s wharf before departing for Lautoka wharf and later Dravuni on February 9

Expect Lautoka Port to be a hive of activity today with the arrival of passenger vessel Arcadia.
