A new Chinese restaurant has opened in Labasa Town, bringing traditional Chinese flavours back to the northern capital.

Restaurant owner Joe Kau, of Naseakula in Labasa, said the restaurant opened during the visit of the Fiji Pageant, providing an ideal opportunity to introduce the business to both locals and visitors.

The 48-year-old said the aim was to reintroduce authentic Chinese cuisine to the town.

“We wanted to bring Chinese flavours back to Labasa and give people something different,” Mr Kau said.

The restaurant operates from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday, and employs nearly 20 staff members.

Mr Kau said the business has created valuable employment opportunities for people in the community.

He said the response from customers has been encouraging since opening, with sales going strong.

“So far, business has been good, and we are very happy to serve our customers,” he said.

The restaurant specialises in a wide range of Chinese cuisine, offering both dine-in and catering services.

He said the team caters for weddings, birthdays and other special functions, making it a popular choice for family celebrations and events.

He added that quality food and customer satisfaction remain top priorities, with the restaurant aiming to provide consistent service to its patrons.

Mr Kau said he is grateful for the support shown by residents and visitors and encouraged the community to continue supporting local businesses.

The restaurant is expected to become a key dining destination in Labasa as interest in diverse cuisine continues to grow.
