COVID-19 Delays Glass For The Lautoka Hub Opening
The recent coronavirus pandemic is also the reason behind the delay as the glass was being supplied from a company based in China.

Pacifique Du Sud managing director Rajendra Nath said the opening of Lautoka Hub would be deferred because of the delay in the glass shipment and change in weather conditions.
He said structural works for the new $12 million complex was completed.
The recent coronavirus pandemic is also the reason behind the delay as the glass was being supplied from a company based in China.

“It’s been the rain, but mainly the coronavirus because the glass is being shipped from the company New Star Aluminum in China,” he said.
“It is subcontracted to supply the glass and its being delayed a bit so we are looking at May for the completion.
“It’s just the finishing touches now and we are just left with tiling, painting, sealing, plastering, glasswork, aluminum and sealing of the car park.

“We are waiting on the Lautoka City Council to pass the plans for the decking, sitting area for the restaurant clients.
“The council is holding onto the plans to approve the grading of the car park which might come in today (yesterday) or tomorrow (today).”
For safety purposes, he said tenants would not be allowed on the site to view the units.
“There’s a few who have shown interest, but we cannot reveal too much at this point in time until things are done and we can’t really bring people into the site right now for safety reasons,” he said.
Mr Nath hinted that surrounding community members could expect employment opportunities once the Lautoka Hub was completed.
“We will need security guards, cleaners and gardeners to keep the place maintained and we will get people from here the local community,” he said
