Post Fiji has diversified its services to include groceries purchase and delivery.

Chief executive officer Anirudha Bansod said 24 Post Fiji’s nationwide shops now sell and deliver groceries.

In time, Post Fiji will also consider selling non prescribed pharmaceutical items, he said.

“We may even branch out into selling computers and toys given the matter of social distancing where parents may want to buy things to keep their children occupied,” he said.

He said revenue had dropped as expected because inbound and outgoing mail services were suspended.

“It’s a hard lesson for Post Fiji.

“No one predicted it would be this bad.

“We’ve had to restructure our business model.”

Customers can now access Post Fiji website to see what groceries are in stock and make payments online, Mr Bansod said.

Payments can be made via Visa or credit cards.

An additional fee applies for home deliveries, he said.

Post Fiji call centre is also available to assist customers over their queries and delivery.

Mr Bansod said Post Fiji remained a non-profit business.

He said maritime outlets were fully stocked in the lead up to the launch of the service.

Post Fiji has not laid off any workers since the outbreak of coronavirus in Fiji.

The service will roll out, at the latest, by April 15.

Post Fiji call centre number is 132123.
