Fijian Holdings Limited has resumed rectification work at its flagship tower.
The announcement comes day after FHL and Energy Fiji Limited chairman Rokoseru Nabalarua was questioned by SunBiz on the progress of the project, after one man died and another was injured in a workplace incident at the site.
A stop order was lifted on the project site with a compliant certification for issued for occupational health and safety regulations.
“All recommended measures have been integrated into current work practices to ensure a safe and working environment,” FHL said, after the arrival of replacement materials sourced internationally and the compliances to all required regulatory clearances.
“Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) has granted clearance for the site’s electrical installations, confirming compliance with applicable utility interface protocols and load distribution requirements.
“Temporary power has been successfully restored, allowing work to proceed.”
The $67 million green tower was scheduled for completion in 2022.
However, work on the 17-storey building has spilled over seven years.
“With materials secured and statutory approvals in place, efforts are now focused on completion, while upholding all statutory and safety requirements. FHL continues to work closely with the main contractor and relevant authorities to ensure steady progress, guided by our commitment to safety, compliance, and the well-being of everyone on site,” FHL said.
