Outgoing Fiji Public Trustee Corporation Pte Limited chief executive officer Atonio Takala’s contract ends on December 31, 2023. Fiji Public Trustee Corporation Pte Limited board chairperson Liliana Warid said they invested in a lot of technology to improve their service delivery.

The search for the next chief executive officer of the Fiji Public Trustee Corporation Pte Limited continues.

The company re-advertised the position after several shortlisted candidates withdrew, board chairperson Liliana Warid told SunBiz.

The incumbent CEO, Atonio Takala leaves on December 31.

Mr Takala joined Fiji Public Trustee Corporation in 2009 and became CEO in 2013.

Ms Warid said Mr Takala chose not to reapply for the role he held for a decade.

The CEO candidate is expected to have more than five years of senior executive management or CEO-level experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Management from a recognised university.

A postgraduate qualification in Business Administration and Finance and knowledge of the Fiji Public Trustee Act and related legislation would be an advantage.

Applications close on January 12, 2024.

The new CEO will also be responsible for continuing the initiatives Mr Takala started.

“Mr Takala has gone ahead and invested in a lot of technology to automate our processes and improve our service delivery,” Ms Warid said.

“We need to bring this technology to life.

“So our focus for the next couple of years with the new CEO will be to streamline our internal processes and bring in those efficiencies.”

The Fiji Public Trustee Corporation Pte Limited works to provide accessible Estate and Trustee services to Fijians, handling wills and protecting assets for families.

The company, Ms Warid explained, earns its money when ‘people pass on’ and said the difficulty was in collecting fees from beneficiaries who often didn’t have the funds to pay.

She said the other major challenge was balancing a business of this nature with the company’s efforts to promote wellness.

“There’s an effort outside of our business to get people to live longer, but that works against how we earn our money,” she said.

The Fiji Public Trustee Corporation Pte Limited is a Public Enterprise, corporatised in April 2006 to provide a range of professional and specialised Will, Estate and Trustee services.
