Former Journo Among 10 in Run for Crown

A former journalist with her heart set on a future in human rights and climate change, Rowena Acraman is among 10 contestants vying for the upcoming Miss Hibiscus Festival 2024.

The 22-year-old student multi-lingual musical artist is sponsored by Apco Coatings, with its origins dating back to 1977, and its operations expanding to Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Tonga.

Fluent in English, Hindi, and Japanese, Ms Acraman’s linguistic abilities reflect her deep love for learning and cultural exchange.

Beyond her academic achievements, she is an avid artist, singer, and musician, proficient in playing the guitar and ukulele.

Her hobbies point to a deep appreciation for creativity and expression, complemented by her self-taught proficiency in Japanese.

Ms Acraman aspires to work for a non-governmental organisation that champions human rights, and addresses the pressing issue of climate change.

Her dedication to such causes are indicative of a commitment to bring about a positive impact on the world.

Apco Coatings, headquartered in Lautoka, exports to other South Pacific islands, including Samoa.

The 68th Hibiscus Festival will be launched at Suva Civic Foreshore and Suva Civic Centre from Saturday, August 31 to September 7.

The festival is supported by FMF and Vodafone as the gold sponsors, promising a week filled with culture, entertainment, and the celebration of beauty and talent, organisers of the event said.
