The ‘miracle’ that was to unfold yesterday at Nadi International Airport turned mysterious as a soft launch was held behind closed doors.

The highly anticipated ‘miracle’ opening of COMO Laucala Island hangar at Nadi was held behind closed doors, and followed earlier industry remarks about the need for a ‘miracle’ to launch the hangar.

Trade minister Manoa Kamikamica said the event was private, with room for the Government’s Information arm only.

On Sunday, he said the launch herald a positive business environment.

“This project was stopped by the previous Government, until Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka allowed it to proceed,” Mr Kamikamica said.

Laucala Island, a destination for high rollers across the world, remits $3 million in foreign exchange monthly, to Fiji.

COMO Laucala Island, one of the world’s largest private getaways, has a private lounge at Nadi International Airport.
