Gluten-Free Cassava Flour Big Business For Khan

Tavioka Organic Products Pte Limited founder Anwa Khan says the company will work with villag­ers to create tavioka farms on idle land.

“We require huge volumes of cassava for our mill and wish to work with farmers who can maintain our stringent quality control mechanism; 100 per cent organic cassava that will be good for processing,” he said.

Mr Khan said the newly-built factory had ma­chinery manufactured in the United Kingdom.

It has a state-of-the-art production line, the first of its kind in the Pacific, with initial supply earmarked for Australia, Canada and the United States of America, followed by the local market.

“We started this venture during COVID; we commenced research and development early 2021, and produced our first product early 2022,” he said.

“There is a huge demand for gluten-free cas­sava flour which is ideal for healthy living.

“Our first batch tested numerous times in Australia at a National Association of Testing Authorities-accredited lab, and passed with flying colours.”

Mr Khan said Tavioka Organic Products Pte Limited’s planting Programme was similar to

Fiji’s colonial sugar system.
